Held from September 12-13, 2024, at the InterContinental Resort in Bali, the Periklindo EV Conference (PEVC) 2024 is a key event for the electric vehicle (EV) industry in Indonesia. The event brings together stakeholders to collaborate and discuss the advancements in EV technology and infrastructure. 

 

PEVC 2024 highlights the theme ‘EVolution REVolution’, focusing on technological advancements, consumer adoption, and sustainability within Indonesia’s electric vehicle industry. PEVC 2024 brings together business leaders, government officials, automotive manufacturers (OEMs), and innovators in infrastructure, such as charging stations and batteries. The event emphasizes the importance of cross-sector collaboration to build a sustainable future for mobility. 

 

Telkomsel plays a key role at this conference as an EV ecosystem partner. In a panel discussion themed “Winning Indonesia’s EV Market through Seamless Customer Experience”, Telkomsel addresses the challenges and opportunities of EV adoption in Indonesia.

Key Takeaways from the Panel Discussion 

The panel discussion, moderated by Eugene Khoo, Partner at Deloitte SEA, featured panelists from leading companies. The panelists included Kwok Wai Kiat (Vice President of Enterprise Product Management and Development at Telkomsel), Qu Jizong (Executive Vice President of PT Chery Sales Indonesia), and Kelik Irwantono (President Director of PT Mobil Anak Bangsa Indonesia or MAB). The main theme of the discussion was the importance of delivering a seamless customer experience to win the Indonesian EV market, along with global trends and challenges in EV adoption. 

 

Kwok Wai Kiat highlighted Telkomsel’s crucial role in supporting the EV ecosystem through strong connectivity and IoT-based digital solutions. He stated, “Telkomsel is renowned for its unmatched connectivity and advanced digital solutions. Beyond seamless communication and internet services, Telkomsel offers telematics services for vehicle condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and In-Car WiFi. With our IoT analytics, we can enhance operational efficiency and safety, while providing a more optimal EV experience across the archipelago.” 

 

He also added, “Telkomsel recognizes the critical role that electric vehicles play in reducing carbon emissions and promoting a cleaner, more sustainable environment. We aim to leverage our capabilities to accelerate EV adoption, we aim to take a brave step to contribute to Indonesia’s broader goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality.” 

 

Representative from MAB also emphasized the importance of strategic collaboration to accelerate innovation and boost the adoption of electric vehicles in Indonesia. 

 

Telkomsel and MAB Collaboration: Developing the EV Ecosystem for a Sustainable Energy Transition 

During PEVC 2024, Telkomsel and PT Mobil Anak Bangsa Indonesia (MAB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop a more integrated electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem. Through this agreement, both Telkomsel and PT MAB committed to building a more seamless and environmentally friendly EV ecosystem. This initiative is part of their efforts to support Indonesia's goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, as set by the government.  

 

As part of this collaboration, Telkomsel will provide cutting-edge technology solutions, including reliable Internet of Things (IoT)-based connectivity and broadband services. These technologies will not only optimize the operational efficiency of MAB's electric vehicles but also support other industries, such as agriculture, mining, and manufacturing, in adopting more eco-friendly mobility technologies. 

 

Currently, Telkomsel offers vehicle connectivity, fleet operation management, and energy monitoring to enhance the efficiency of MAB's electric vehicles. In the future, digital solutions like telematics, entertainment, and real-time vehicle condition monitoring through dashboards will be explored to further strengthen the connected and efficient EV ecosystem.
