This advanced IoT solution has been proven to enhance safety and efficiency in Indonesia’s transportation sector.
The Asian Telecom Awards, which has been held since 2005, is an international platform for telecommunications companies to showcase their innovative solutions. This prestigious award recognizes companies with a strong commitment to utilizing technology for positive impact.
As one of the winners of this award, Telkomsel IoT FleetSense is a digital solution powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI), developed to address the challenges of digitizing safety and efficiency across various modes of transportation and logistics. This includes railways, which play a crucial role in Indonesia’s economy, where some incidents have occurred due to various factors, including human errors related to operator fatigue and non-compliance with work procedures.
Through B2B collaboration with customers, Telkomsel addresses these challenges by implementing IoT FleetSense in South Sumatra, a key region for Indonesia’s mining and extractive industries. With coal reserves of 9.3 billion tons and an annual production of 105 million tons, the region requires an efficient and reliable resource transportation system. The high volume of freight transport and safety concerns highlight the importance of Telkomsel IoT FleetSense in improving efficiency and reducing accident risks.
Following its implementation in more than 200 locomotives, Telkomsel IoT FleetSense has been able to identify over 100,000 real-time safety alerts and send notifications to customer command centers. These alerts detect signs of fatigue, disruptive train operator activities such as phone usage or smoking, supporting the digitization of safety procedures and customers' business operations.
