Digital ecosystems in Indonesia need to be built hand in hand with a positive spirit, so as to generate productive things for the community. Therefore, various elements of society are invited to take an active role in building a positive awareness of Internet usage.
This year’s #InternetBAIK presents a new concept related to cyber wellness education called Digital Civic Education Indonesia which is expected to help teachers and parents in guiding and helping children and young generation in order to take advantage of advances in information technology well and embracing the values of personality nation. In addition, the program is also expected to invite more parties to be aware from the beginning to negative things in the digital realm, such as cyberbullying, hoax news, pornography, and cybercrime.
Responsible use of the Internet means using the Internet appropriately in accordance with norms and ethics. Safe means that Internet users are protected from all potential crime and the negative impact from the Internet. Inspirational means to encourage the use of the Internet for positive things in an effort to improve the quality of life of users and people around him. While creative means creating a productive digital ecosystem as a place of creative development and creativity that is widely useful for society.
#InternetBAIK as a cyberwellness campaign includes a series of socialization activities and workshops aimed at the children (elementary school students in grades 4-6) and teens (junior high school students) segments as entry level Internet users, as well as parents and teachers who act as supervisors and companions, so that understanding of the utilization of the Internet is expected to be realized comprehensively.
Collaboration with various communities and related stakeholders was opened, so this campaign could develop into a social movement that increases the awareness of the wider community about the importance of a BAIK Internet use.
In the second year of its implementation, several parties were again involved: Yayasan Kita dan Buah Hati which since 1998 has been focused in consultation, mentoring, training and advocacy activities around family and child care issues; ICT Watch as the founding organization of the "Healthy Internet" digital literacy movement since 2002; and Kakatu, an application that can be used to protect children to avoid addiction to gadgets, online games, and other negative content in the digital world.
#InternetBAIK which first held last year is one of the social responsibility initiatives of Telkomsel as the leading mobile operator in Indonesia. The response from this program is very good, and this is reassuring Telkomsel to continue educating the people of Indonesia regarding the use of information and communication technology that can provide added value.
