Telkomsel and TikTok Forge Strategic Partnership at MWC 2025, Exploring Telco Verify and Telco Insight Collaboration

Barcelona, Spain, 04 March 2025 – Telkomsel, Indonesia’s leading digital telecommunications service provider, and TikTok, the world’s leading short-video platform, have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Spain (3/3). This strategic collaboration focuses on leveraging Telco Verify and Telco Insight Collaboration to provide a safer and more seamless digital experience for TikTok users in Indonesia.

 

One of the main initiatives in this MoU is the exploration of Telco Verify, a network-based authentication solution that allows users to be automatically authenticated (silent verification) by mobile network operators, without the need to enter passwords or One-Time Password (OTP) codes. This can reduce the likelihood of user account takeover through social engineering or accidental sharing of OTP codes. Thus, this reliable and efficient solution not only speeds up the authentication process but also enhances the security and convenience of TikTok users.

 

In addition, through the Telco Insight Collaboration, Telkomsel and TikTok utilize Data Cleanroom technology to explore data collaboration with Telco insights aiming to improve the TikTok user experience. With Data Cleanroom technology, both parties can conduct joint data analysis securely, while maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of user information because it is carried out in an anonymous and encrypted form. In this collaboration, Data Cleanroom technology is applied to process data in isolation without any data exchange or disclosure between parties. With this approach, both companies ensure compliance with privacy regulations and prioritize customer data protection, while improving security and accuracy in information analysis.
