Addressing climate change and lowering greenhouse gas emissions are important parts of our sustainability efforts. We are focused on being responsible stewards of the environment and are working towards national climate goals. By making efforts to reduce our carbon footprint, we hope to contribute to a healthier and more sustainable planet for the future.
We have a network infrastructure consisting of 233,000 BTS sites spread throughout Indonesia. Energy is a key element in supporting BTS operations to provide reliable connectivity. As part of the steps towards sustainability, we are committed to supporting the energy transition through the implementation of energy-efficient technology and the utilization of new and renewable energy.
In 2023, we pioneered RAN Energy Efficiency technology at BTS sites. This technology allows energy consumption to adjust to data traffic fluctuations without sacrificing service quality. In the office, the use of smart energy technology, such as an automatic lighting control system, is also implemented to increase energy efficiency.
The use of new and renewable energy is also a priority. To date, 275 solar panels and micro-hydro generators have been installed at BTS sites with an estimated emission reduction of 1,774 tons of CO2eq. In addition, the partnership with the State Electricity Company (PLN) through the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) continues to be developed to expand the use of green energy in our operations.
We are focused on promoting eco-friendly transportation and reducing carbon emissions through practical steps. One important action is transitioning our operational fleet to electric vehicles (EVs). This change helps lower our carbon footprint and shows how businesses can contribute to environmental sustainability. By supporting the EV ecosystem, we aim to make a positive impact toward Indonesia’s goal of achieving net-zero carbon.
