Telkomsel Launches Indonesia's First 5G Industrial Use Cases in Collaboration with Huawei, Accelerating Digitalization in Port Operations

Bali, August 17, 2024] - Leading Indonesian digital telecommunications service provider Telkomsel has launched Indonesia’s first deployment of 5G standalone (SA) technology in collaboration with global technology solutions provider Huawei, as part of its technological breakthroughs to propel industry digitalization, particularly in seaport industry ecosystem.

 

Telkomsel will provide 5G SA technology with ultimate RAN solutions to support digital transformation in port operations by delivering end-to-end industrial use cases, ranging from Cloud Phone (toC) and Redcap devices (toH) to artificial intelligence (AI) for ports (toB). Through this collaboration, Telkomsel becomes the first digital telco company in Indonesia to embrace 5G SA technology, powered by mobile private networks (MPNs), network slicing, and edge computing.

Using the 5G SA technology, Telkomsel will bring a Smart Port use case covering cloud phone technology, RedCap devices, and AI that integrates state-of-the-art surveillance technology operating on the 5G network to create a higher level of security and operational efficiency with the support of the Mobile Private Network (MPN). The latest cloud phone technology will support cloud-based virtual phones to explore new business models towards work efficiency for workers in the seaport management system that require high levels of information security and real-time response to data operations. In addition, the AI detection system, which features high-definition video on a real-time basis, enables thorough surveillance of the seaport complex as well as a quick response against any accidents or potential security disturbances.
